How most task bots work
A typical Telegram task bot waits for a command: /add Fix the login, /assign @dawit, /done 14. That works for a
week. Then people forget the syntax, tasks get agreed in normal messages instead, and the bot’s list stops matching
what the team is doing.
How TXM is different
TXM reads normal messages. When Hanna writes “Dawit could you push the onboarding flow to staging before Friday’s demo?” and Dawit replies “yep, will do tomorrow evening”, TXM creates the task, sets Dawit as owner, Hanna as requester and Friday as the due date. When Dawit later says “done”, the task closes.
| Command-based task bot | TXM | |
|---|---|---|
| Creating a task | Someone types a command | Said in conversation |
| Assigning | /assign with a username |
Whoever agreed to do it |
| Closing | /done with a task number |
“done”, “sent”, “fixed ✅” |
| Blocked or reopened | Rarely tracked | Read from the chat |
| Posting in the group | Often after every change | Never on its own |
The commands that remain
/tasksshows every open task in the group, newest first, by day./mytasksshows your own open tasks./capturedshows what changed in the last 24 hours./boardopens the task board inside Telegram.
Replies to these commands delete themselves after 30 minutes, so the group stays clean.
Add it to a group
Open @txmgtbot in Telegram and tap “Add TXM to a group”, or use the button on this page. Make TXM an admin so Telegram lets it read the group. The first tasks appear within half an hour of chat.
Questions
Is TXM free?
Most features are free.
Does TXM spam the group?
No. It never posts on its own. It only answers commands, and those replies delete themselves after 30 minutes.
Can I still add a task by hand?
Yes, on the board. Most teams rarely need to: TXM finds tasks in the conversation.
What does @txmgtbot need access to?
The group’s messages, which Telegram only gives to bots that are admins or have privacy mode off.
